Savage Rhythm is pleased to present a new event to the Arizona swing dance community, the Midsummer Swing Festival. We are bringing back several of our wildly successful events that you love and packing them into an entire weekend…with a twist. From Rooftop Speakeasies, to dancing on ice, with an incredible day of workshops featuring award winning New York dancer Lainey Silver, and a couple surprises in between. This is going to be an awesome weekend.
Friday Night – 8pm – 11pm – Midsummer Night’s Swing Speakeasy
(Weekend pass or $20 at door)
MSF begins in a new secret location. We’ve had our rooftop speakeasy twice now. Just as in the past, you will need your password to enter and you will be escorted into this exclusive venue. Theme for the night is Midsummer Night’s Dream (more on that to come). Expect the surreal.
Saturday Day – 10am – 4pm – Jazz and Lindy Workshops
(Weekend pass or at door: $10 per class or $50 for day)
Venue: MonOrchid, 214 E. Roosevelt Rd., Phoenix
This is going to be an amazing day of lessons featuring Lainey Silver, a world traveling, award winning dancer with energy and personality that will leave you smiling. Five hours of classes to get you moving and help bring out the badass within you.
Don’t miss out on this! There will be some special surprises.
Saturday Night – 7pm – 11pm – Kats Korner
(Normal Kats Korner Cover, Not included in Festival Pass)
Phoenix’s regular Saturday night venue. Get your swing on and try out fancy moves, styling, and technique you may have picked up throughout the day.
Saturday Late Night – 11:45pm – 1:30am – Icy Hop
(Weekend pass or $5 at door)
Venue: Arcadia Ice Arena, 3853 E. Thomas Rd., Phoenix
Midsummer can be hot in Phoenix. However, to cap our day and cool us all down we will be offering a very special afterhours…the return of Icy Hop…and with it dancing on a sheet of ice. Yes!!!
Beginning at the midnight hour we will swing out, shuffle, spin, and even slide a little on the ice at a local hockey rink. 50 Degrees never felt so good.
Sunday Afternoon – 1pm – 4pm
(Weekend pass or $5 at door)
Venue: the Duce, 525 South Central Avenue, Phoenix
The weekend continues with a special afternoon to treat your senses and dancing delights. Great music, performances, and fantastic food and drink.

About Lainey Silver
Based out of NYC, Lainey Silver is a globetrotting jazz era dancer, performer, choreographer, and vintage fashionista. She specializes in Lindy Hop, Charleston, and vernacular jazz.
An enthralling performer, who embraces the music and the audience whenever she hits the dance floor. She has performed, taught and compete across North America. She is a member of New York based Syncopated City Dance Company, the Lindy Hop All Stars, and the Sugarfoot Follies.
A fierce competitor, Lainey has won a number of contests, placing 1st at the 2014 Ultimate Lindy Hop Showdown Slow Dance division, 2nd in the 2013 International Lindy Hop Championships Advanced Jack and Jill, 1st Place 2014 Nevermore Jazz Ball Challenge, 1st Place 2013 Lindy Focus Team Division, 1st Place Y12A Strictly Lindy…to name few. In addition, she is honored to be crowned the 2013 Miss Camp Hollywood.
Lainey stresses connection to your partner, a solid base in fundamentals, and dancing as an expression of the music. She strives to nurture and inspire her students to embrace the history of jazz dance while supporting the development of lindy hop in the present.
